Musing Mondays

This weekly meme is hosted by Should Be Reading

This week’s musing…
What's your favorite "cozy" book -- and, by that, I'm meaning "curl-up-on-a-cold-day comfort read"? Or, if you don't have a particular book, what genre do you most feel like reading when the weather starts to turn colder?
Definitely the Harry Potter series!

And you?

This week’s musing…
If your book group asked you to bring two (2) suggestions for group reads to your next meeting, what two books would you suggest? Why?
Paranormalcy Paranormalcy (Paranormalcy, #1) by Kiersten White

Because i want to read this soon!

and

The Pillars of the Earth The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett

Because it is one of the best books i have ever read!

And you?

This week’s musing…
What makes you love / hate a character in a book?
Love - Definitely characters who are funny, kick-ass and not afraid to stand up for themselves. I also like quirky characters :)

Hate - Characters with no personality. And characters that are hateful and spiteful.

And you?

This week’s musing…
Where do you buy / get most of your books?
Most of my books i get from www.take2.co.za
They are extremely cheap!
Other than Take2 i go to second hand bookstores :)

And you?

This week’s musing…
If you knew you only had 30 days left to live, would books and reading still hold such a great priority in your life? Or, would you set aside your reading to do something else, spend more of your time elsewhere? What would you do, instead?
I would put my books aside yes. Maybe read one or two on a plain trip to some country i have always wanted to visit. I would eat pizza everyday, spend more time with my family and tell my friends what i really think of their boyfriends. I would tell everyone i love, that i love them everyday. I like my life and won't change too much.

I by no means feel like i miss out on life with my reading. When I'm not reading i feel like I'm not doing enough :)

This week’s musing…
How often do you actually put into practice what you learn from reading nonfiction books (if you read nonfiction, that is)?
I hardly read nonfiction. But when i do, i do remember the lessons and i do remember the facts. But i don't try and enforce a change in my life. I think books change your life anyway, without you even knowing it. I think its the lessons your learn unknowingly that make a bigger difference, than trying to force yourself to change. We as humans are stubborn, and when you "have" to do something, we don't. Just like we "have" to diet. We don't. But its life changing lessons than really affect you without you even knowing that will have a deeper impact.

We'll that's what i think anyway, I hope it makes sense :)

Lol I'll stop rambling now :)

This week’s musing…
If your house was burning down –and you could SAFELY grab a book on your way outside to safety– what book would you make sure you ‘rescued’? Why?
How can i answer this!! HOW
I'd grab the entire Harry Potter collection! I can't choose and i won't, don't make me :(

Lol but i would probably grab my laptop with my e-books :) Does that count?
If not my ipod?

Or my current read at that point as it would probably be in my hand already :)

Lol I'm now so worked up trying to figure out what I should take and what I should leave! I'll probably have nightmares :P

What would you take?

This week’s musing…
Do you review books? If so, for who?
If not, have you ever thought about doing so? Why, or why not?
I review books that i own, and the occasional book i win. I have been sent two books before by authors that i gladly reviewed and loved!

I would love to review more books, and i hope in time my blog will attract attention from authors and publishers. But till then i am happy to review what i can :)

What about you?

This week’s musing asks…
What does your bookshelf (or, what do your bookshelves) say about you to the people who come into your home?
My bookshelves show people that i love books (obviously) and that i love to collect series. I also keep action figures of various characters and harry potter paraphernalia in my bookshelves!

What is your answer?
