Review: If I Stay

If I Stay (If I Stay #1) by Gayle Forman

Published April 6th 2010 by Speak (first published January 1st 2009)
Paperback, 259 pages

"In the blink of an eye everything changes. Seventeen-year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall what happened afterwards, watching her own damaged body being taken from the wreck. Little by little she struggles to put together the pieces - to figure out what she has lost, what she has left, and the very difficult choice she must make. Heart-wrenchingly beautiful, Mia's story will stay with you for a long, long time."

9/10

What a heartfelt, emotional roller-coaster of a novel! I found myself crying several times and had to stop reading so that I could get myself under control to continue. This novel took my breath away and filled me with so much emotion that I didn't know what to do with myself half of the time.

Each character will stay with you long after you have finished with the novel.

Will Mia stay? or will she go? You get to see her decision and why she made it through flashbacks and stories she tells you throughout the book.

The words Gripping and Intense doesn't do this novel justice. You can see Mia making either choice and you end up rooting for her no matter what she decides. It was beautifully written, brilliantly executed and amazingly real.
