Book to Movie News of the Week

This week's book to movie news is...

Carey Mulligan Cast as Daisy in ‘The Great Gatsby’ and Leonardo DiCaprio will play Jay Gatsby

Filmmaker Baz Luhrmann has found his Daisy Buchanan. He has officially given the starring role in The Great Gatsby to Carey Mulligan, the Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and Never Let Me Go star who’ll play the manipulative heroine when Luhrmann starts production on his adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald literary classic. Mulligan was a late entrant to an elite list of actresses that Luhrmann met with while he conducted readings with Leonardo DiCaprio, who’ll play Jay Gatsby. I wasn't too fond of The Great Gatsby novel, but I like Baz Luhrman, and DiCaprio is a good actor, so I'm keen to watch this.

Wow!I had no idea this was even in the works! As a big fan of the book, the original movie (with Mia Farrow and Robert Redford), Baz Luhrmann, and both actors that have been chosen for the leads, I'm really curious to see how this one will turn out! Luhrmann always adds such an unusual spin on things!

interesting choices. Wonder what Baz will make of this classic novel-his Moulin Rouge is one of my all-time favorites. I'm going to look forward to this movie.

I love Fitzgerald but GG might be my least-favorite of his books! It would be lovely to see this cast in another one of his books -- DiCaprio has the chops to handle the rich-and-disenchanted princes Fitzgerald writes about.
