Weekly Question

Anyone know a good Sci-fi I should read?

My book club is nominating books for a sci-fi challenge, and I'm looking for something to nominate :)

Any suggestion would help!

A Thousand Words for Stranger By Julie E Czerneda. :) Or anything else by her. She's got a lot.

Don't really read sci-fi. Sorry :(

Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch. It's ScFi romance and very funny!
Or if you can wait for a short while:
Enemy Within by Marcella Burnard promises to be a cool scifi romance as well. It releases in november

Here are a few I think you might like Lu (I added categories to give you a hand for the challenge):
The Player of Games by Iain M. Banks (space opera)
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood (feminist sf, dystopia)
The Gate to Women's Country by Sheri S. Tepper (feminist sf, dystopia, post-apocalyptic). I think you'd also like Tepper's work in general, they're really fun reads.
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card (military sf)
Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood (dystopia, post-apocalyptic, biopunk, ecofeminist)
Bad Monkeys by Matt Ruff (sf thriller/mystery). It's a bit silly, but it's a lot of fun.

Thanks so much Lauren!!!
I hope i get you in the lets give each other books to read challenge thing :)

I'm bit scared of the above mentioned books, but its just because its out of my comfort zone.

I have about 7 sc-fi books i want to read, the rest you will have to give advice with :)

The Player of Games and Oryx and Crake i will most likely read :) I see Atwood is winning Author of the month as well :)

Oh yeah, I was actually surprised to see her winning. I suggest you start with The Handmaid's Tale - it's shorter and easier, although Oryx and Crake is more exciting.

Don't be scared of the books above, I chose them because they're easier options if you don't read a lot of sci fi, and also because I think you might like the stories :)
