I'm beginning to think Gail Carriger may pull me into steampunk. If there's a modern author who could make me haunt the bookstore waiting for her latest, she'd probably be it.
Oh, I so approve of Gail Carriger and Philip Pullman -- both very nearly made my list! (Well, they did, but then I counted 23 people, so I had to trim!)
Have you read any of the Hunger Games series? If not you should definitely pick them up when you have a chance (and then Suzanne Collins might well pop up on this list after you've read them!)
I quite enjoyed Lauren Oliver's Before I Fall and am looking forward to Delirium - seems she's definitely one to keep an eye out for!
J. K. Rowling was on my list as well, I haven't heard of a lot of the authors on your list. I've wanted to read the Charlaine Harris books for awhile-- mostly because I just started watched True Blood.
This is a book blog with a Harry Potter element :)
Previously known as Lu's Bloody Big Book Blog and now combined with my HP blog, Quick Quote Quills!
Here the Harry Potter world never ends!

We share a lot of the same tastes. By the way I love the hummingbird background- they are amazing creatures.

I love Phillip Pullman. I stuck with mostly classics, but Pullman is a great author whose works I love.
So many love J.K. Rowling. Me, too, of course.
Great choices. I'd add Maggie Stiefvater and Gayle Forman. Others too, but those come to mind at first glance.
