I follow 400 blogs and I'm really struggling to read them all, which I have been doing, but its getting too much.

Only blogs that appeal to you or followers? Top commentators?
I want to cut the number I read by half, because I just don't have the time :( Any suggestions?

I have the same question and issue. My blogroll is about to collapse under its own weight. I try to stop by once in a while but it is hard to get to the middle of the list.

I don't know about everyone else, but I do the following
1- I use google reader & separate the blogs I follow into categories
2- I pick a time to go through each category
3- I eliminate blogs that do not post what I like to read - i.e. I follow blogs specifically for book reviews so the ones who post mostly memes or who reviews of books I won't read or blogs who post reviews that are negative I clear out.
This usually keeps me to about 150... which is still sometimes massive so I don't read all of them. I skim titles, read what's interesting, and comment on things that really catch me.
Good luck coming up with a formula that suits you!!

I still haven't gotten to that point where my blogroll is so overwhelming...I usually can get through it in one sitting. I HAVE to check it at least twice a day, though, or else it is way too much! I remember taking a break day once, and I just skipped all the missed posts. There were too many. :S

This is something I've been feeling overwhelmed by as well. I don't have any tried and tested solutions for you yet, Lu, but I'm about to try something new. I'm going to put the blogs I really make a point to read on the sidebar of my blog, and go through them from there. It will be more systematic visiting than I do these days from the list of blogs I follow on my Blogger Dashboard page.
I'll let you know how it works out for me! And I hope you find something that works for you, too. =)
Thanks so much for all the help guys!!
I'm going to put my blogs into categories, the ones i follow religiously (and those that comment a lot) and then the rest i skim through :)
I try my best to get around to as many as I can, and when I do, I usually do one batch in the morning and one batch in the evening. I also usually make a point of stopping by bloggers who visit and comment on my blogs often and regularly first before I get onto other blogs.
Yea i have a new system now, 50 top commentators i visit first, then 200 other commentators and blogs i like i visit next. Then i skim through the rest :)
I find that the blogs I like to visit are the bloggers who visit me. It seems rather unfair for me to go to blogs when the bloggers don't repeat in kind!
Definilty true Brenda!
